What is the difference between a 3-line vs 5-line hydraulic system:

3-line system: Uses 1 pressure hydraulic line, 1 return line, and a case drain line. The case drain line allows excess fluid or leakage from the valve or motor to return to the tank with minimal backpressure, protecting seals and improving efficiency. For this drum mulcher attachment, you will need to use the electrical harness to operate the hydraulic gate.

5-line system: Typically refers to a more complex setup, often with 2 pressure lines (for dual pressure circuits or auxiliary functions), 2 return lines, and 1 case drain. It offers more control, allowing for multi-function hydraulics or higher flow systems. In most cases you will have 2 high flow hookups and 2 low flow hookups. In this case the high flow will be used to power the drum and the low flow will be used to operate the hydraulic gate. You will not need an electrical harness if you decide to go with the 5 line system.

Key difference: 5-line systems provide greater flexibility and control for advanced machinery, while 3-line systems are simpler and sufficient for standard operations.
